Types of Learning at URVI Montessori

We follow the child — not a curriculum — allowing genuine learning to unfold naturally.

"Help me do it by myself"

This child's request, heard by Dr. Maria Montessori over a century ago, remains the heart of everything we do. At Urvi, we carefully prepare an environment and offer just enough support for children to discover their own capabilities.

Our classrooms are multi-age (18 months to 5 years), allowing younger children to learn from older peers, and older children to develop leadership through mentorship. Each child works at their own pace with extended, uninterrupted work periods.

Core Montessori Principles

1
The Prepared Environment

Every element of the classroom is intentionally designed to support the child's natural development. Beauty, order, and accessibility invite concentration and independence.

2
The Absorbent Mind

Children aged 0–6 possess a remarkable capacity to absorb language, culture, and knowledge from their environment effortlessly and joyfully.

3
Sensitive Periods

Children pass through windows of opportunity for absorbing specific types of knowledge with ease. Our teachers observe and support each child during these critical periods.

4
Freedom Within Limits

Children are free to choose their work and move purposefully within clear, respectful limits — fostering intrinsic motivation and self-discipline.

Six Domains of Development

Practical Life

Children develop fine motor skills, independence, and concentration through activities like pouring, sorting, dressing, and food preparation.

  • Pouring & transferring
  • Care of environment

Sensorial

Montessori sensorial materials help children refine all their senses and develop the ability to classify, distinguish, and appreciate the world.

Language

Through conversation, phonics, and sandpaper letters, children develop rich vocabulary and a strong foundation for reading and writing.

Mathematics

Concrete math materials allow children to physically experience quantity before abstract symbols — building deep, intuitive number sense.

  • Number rods

  • Stamp game
Cultural Studies

Children explore geography, history, science, music, and art — developing wonder about the world and their place in it.

  • Continent maps

Social-Emotional Learning

Mixed-age classrooms naturally develop empathy, conflict resolution, leadership, and collaborative skills.
